You don’t want to experience the loss of a pet, whether it’s by death or if they go missing. Asha Nieves is one such person who has experienced the latter after her dog Kovu went missing. The dog went missing in 2019 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, where it was playing around in the back garden. Somehow the dog, Kovu, found a hole in the gate in the back garden, which was large enough for him to squeeze through and escape to who knows where. Kovu, who after the event was reported missing, would then not be seen for the next two years following his escape.

After two years, Asha Nieves would make a discovery that would once again bring light to her heart. She had decided to adopt a new dog and browse through the Pennsylvania Lehigh County Human Society website. While going through the site, Asha saw a picture of her missing dog Kovu for the first time in two years, with a new name, Ash. She was stupefied at first, not believing she had come across Kovu, but the photo provided enough evidence. The selling point that proves that this was indeed her dog was the scar on one eye.

The humane society picked up the dog after it had gone missing, and we can assume it was on the streets for a while due to the poor condition it was found in. A new family adopted it but later returned after the family got evicted. When returned to its rightful owner, Kovu’s excitement was clearly visible as it was seen jumping around, wagging its tail while kissing it’s original owner. A heartwarming story indeed as Asha revealed her happiness, stating, “I love him so much, like I’m just so happy he’s back.”
