We Tried Five Viral Tiktok Recipes

TikTok has been making a big splash since it started its journey. It began as a possible replacement for Vines but has become its brand with time. One of the most exciting parts of the TikTok land is the cooking TikTok side. There have been many viral recipes, but are they all worth the hype? We tried five of these viral recipes to see if they deserve the hype. Spoiler alert: it is, for the most part.

  • Nature’s Cereal

The first recipe on the list is this Lizzo-endorsed “nature’s cereal.” This hack is supposed to replace your regular sugary breakfast cereal with lots of fresh fruits. The most common fruit options are raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, and pomegranate seeds, but you can always mix things up. You replace the milk with iced coconut water for a fresher taste.

This hack doesn’t replace regular cereal’s taste, but if you want a healthier breakfast option, this is a good one.

  • Tortilla Wraps

This hack is more of a technique than a complete recipe. This hack is your friend if you want to make your tacos more discrete or start craving a good quesadilla out of nowhere. You’ll have to take your flour tortilla and four toppings/fillings first. Imagine four quadrants on your tortilla, and fill each quadrant with your preferred kind of filling. Make a slit between two quadrants and fold the tortilla from there. Keep going until your tortilla becomes a triangle.

You can enjoy it directly or griddle it, and the taste will stay the same. This one is hard to beat with how easy and versatile it is.

  • Cloud Bread

The origin of this recipe lies with the Keto diet culture. This bread takes the idea of a low-carb and high-protein bread and gives it an aesthetic makeover. Cloud bread needs just three ingredients– egg white, sugar, and cornstarch.

The creation tastes less like bread and more like a fluffy bread-omelet crossover. The bread is slightly sweet and a little tricky to cut through.

  • Baked Feta Pasta

This recipe is probably the most viral TikTok recipe. This recipe makes cooking feta easy. All you’ll have to do is boil your pasta and know how to use your microwave. The recipe starts with boiling pasta. Then you let the pasta sit for a while and get to the microwave part in the meantime. You’ll have to put your block of feta cheese in the middle of a baking tray with cherry tomatoes around it. Bake them until the cheese becomes gooey.

Mix your boiled pasta in it, and you have a delicious dinner. This dish is so easy that it feels wrong but rest assured, it is right and worthy of the hype.

  • Sprite Pie

You read that right. The pie is the modern take on the “waterpie” of the significant depression era. For this, you’ll need flour, vanilla flavor, butter, sugar, and a can of sprite. The recipe falls a little flat as expected because of the lack of ingredients and is almost sickeningly sweet. The pie probably won’t do it for you if you’re half asleep or going through one of those days.

TikTok is an exciting app, and the food hacks from there are even more enjoyable. Most of them are worth the hype but make sure to test everything out for yourself before giving in to the hype.
