2023 Wellness Trends

In just a few months, 2022 will be over. It’s time to change up your wellness routine.

It can be difficult with all the noise and new products that flood supermarket shelves and social media every single day. If there is one thing we have learned, it is that extreme fads and short-term solutions are not in fashion. Instead, holistic and sustainable solutions rooted in science are in.

The movement-focused, Eva Longoria-approved fitness method shares its predictions about the trends in wellness that will make a big splash in 2023.

  • The AARP Special: Until now, dinner at 5 p.m. was reserved for retirees. However, wellness professionals have long praised the benefits of early dinner. Colette Dong, a founder of ness, says that there is already a shift in the industry to make dinner reservations earlier. With the extra information available from wearables, people are better informed about the impact late dinners have on sleep, readiness, and recovery. Dong says that wellness gurus will be eating early to allow time for digestion and prepare themselves for a productive sleep schedule.

  • Low-intensity exercises: Walking was the main focus of the pandemic, when all gyms, studios, and classes were closed. People realized that they could move their bodies and feel great without suffering any torture. Dong says that you can expect to continue to hear about low-intensity movements like long walks, pilates, and mobility exercises as they make their way into your fitness routines.

  • The At-Home Facial: It is no secret that home skincare has become more popular over the past few years. This is because the desire to maintain youthful skin is alive and well. “We can expect this trend to continue growing as we see companies such FaceGym offering online classes and innovative products such as Droplette, which claims to deliver serums deep into the skin than traditional skincare methods), entering the market. This allows consumers to take control of their beauty routine and have access to spa-quality equipment and treatments at a fraction of the cost,” Aly Giampolo is the founder and method director for the ness.

  • Do not Disturb: Many people are realizing that taking regular social media breaks and disconnecting with technology daily can be therapeutic as well as a goal for self-care. Simple practices such as putting your phone in do not disturb mode and muting social media notifications, or reverting to the traditional alarm clocks to keep your phone safe at night are becoming more popular. Giampolo says that people are discovering they can live a more balanced life and establish healthier communication boundaries.

  • Separate, but together: “We will see a lot more people returning to in-person workouts for motivational and a sense community,” Dong says. Although working from home is a great option and undoubtedly more efficient, Dong says that a lot of platforms will integrate live or dual-cam functionality to boost motivation, energy, and a healthy competitive spirit.

  • Movement snacks: There has been a gradual, but steady shift in how we view fitness and how it fits into our lives. Giampolo says that more and more studies show that breaking down your exercise routine into smaller movements throughout the day can be healthier than trying to force yourself to do a longer workout. “I believe movement snacks are key to changing our mindset about fitness. They allow us to find joy and strength without having to work long hours.

  • Social abundance and other ways to release: I think you’ll be seeing a lot more people embrace their year of yes. We’re going see a huge swing in the opposite direction after years of limiting our interactions and possibly putting off dreams and plans, with many people looking for new friends, more social interaction, and more experiences. There are good times ahead, but alternative ways to get energy and keep healthy are likely to be a key part of this,” Dong says. She says that microdosing mushrooms and alternative beverages, as well as ways to get high safely without getting hungover, will continue to be explored.
